Meet Our Team
Cori Munoz
My name is Cori Morris, founder and coach for Munoz Premier Softball. I was born and raised in Topeka, KS, I played softball for 15 years and have been coaching for 10 years. Most of those years I also coached for competitive teams, taking many to multiple state and national championships. For the last couple years, I have been more focused on building athletes through private lessons. Majority of the players that played for me have since went onto college to continue their academic and softball careers.
I started my softball career at the age of seven and took off from there. I attended Seaman High School where I started varsity all four years. After high school I went onto play at Kansas Wesleyan University and then to Washburn University where I pitched and played 3rd base.
Many times, I am asked what my philosophy or methods are. I do things a little different, and I am proud of that. I like to start slow and build from there. I do not believe in anything being cookie cutter, I will start with what your player has and modify her needs to what she already has. I like to call my method “independent learning”. What I mean by that is I want every player to think for herself, I want her to know what she did wrong and how to fix it, what should be the first adjustment and how to go from there.
The love I have for the game cannot be measured, this has by far become one of the biggest passions and I want to pass along my knowledge. I hope I can inspire the next generation of softball as much as I have been. I would love the opportunity to work with your player.
Joe Munoz
My name is Joe Munoz, Cori Morris, owner of Powerhouse Athletics, is my daughter. I have been coaching and giving lessons for 22 years. My love, respect, and dedication for the game of softball started with coaching Cori when she was six years old and has continued for years after Cori graduated and went on to play in college. Through the years I have learned a lot about the game and what it takes to succeed both physically and mentally. I have invested in coaching by attending multiple National Fastpitch Coaches Association clinics. During my coaching career, I have taken teams to multiple State, Regional, and National championships. My philosophy on coaching is that each player is different. No one learns in the exact same way. I start with the basics and build from there. If one technique does not work, we step back and find what works best for them to be successful. I would love the opportunity to work with your player and pass along the knowledge I have. My goal is to build their confidence, and inspire them to not only do their best, but to also give their best.
